Happy Thanksgiving!

November 24, 2010

In the spirit of the holiday, I thought I’d pass on this article which a friend sent me this week. It’s great to hear about a community that has come to cherish a wild neighbor (although I’m obligated to caution against feeding the wildlife). Lucie is indeed one lucky bird!

A few years ago my husband and I took our dogs to Teddy Roosevelt Island (a great, small National Park in the middle of the Potomac River) on Thanksgiving Day for a short hike, and came across a large group (gaggle?) of wild turkeys — it definitely made the day then, and it’s great to hear that they’re coming back in the Chicago area as well.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
