I’ve become slightly addicted to “Kickstarter,” a great website that allows artists (and other visionary-types) to raise money for their projects. Some of the projects ask for seed money to get a project off the ground, some ask for money to help cover distribution costs, but in all cases, the funds go to help projects that might not otherwise happen. The idea is that if many people give even small amounts of money, the few thousand dollars needed for a project can be raised. As an added bonus, you get gifts for donating at certain amounts (I already got a kick-ass photo from one project!). If the project doesn’t get funded, you don’t pay.

A project caught my eye today, as it related to this blog. Someone in Toronto, Canada, is writing a 50-page book/booklet on growing food on balconies. It sounds pretty comprehensive, nicely designed with hand-drawn illustrations, and lots of great ideas. For only $10, you can both support the publishing of the book and get a copy for yourself. Sounds like a bargain to me!

PS: So much for my resolution to do at least one post a week! It’s been a crazy month, but I’m going to try to keep on top of this blog-thing more going forward 🙂
