DC Leads LEED Buildings!

January 19, 2012

Today the US Green Building Council released their yearly stats for the states with the most LEED-certified  commercial and institutional buildings, and DC came out a winner, topping the per capita charts. DC has a whopping 31.50 square feet of LEED-certified space per person, blowing out the nearest competition (Colorado, with 2.74 square feet per person). Although we have fewer than 600,000 residents, we came in 5th for the absolute amount of green building space (California won that race, but came in only eighth on a per capita basis). DCist had a nice overview of the story.

Here’s to a moment of adopted home-town pride!
